From The Bark-Summer 2008 Edition:
Summer is finally here! Although school is ending there still remains a lot of work for us within 4-H. With the CCI Graduate/Puppy Raiser Seminar approaching on June 28th and the 29th, Puppy Power has been busy working on several aspects of the seminar, such as the invitations/postcards, the goodie bags, catering, signs, check-in/out, set up, etc. Just like the last seminar held in our area, the seminar is being sponsored financially by both Puppy Power 4-H and CCI. Also, Puppy Power 4-H was honored at the May 17, 2008 graduation; the 4-Hers in attendance were asked to hand out the ribbons to the matriculating dogs. I, the Puppy Power 4-H President, was pleased to talk about Puppy Power to those in the audience of the May 17th ceremony. We all appreciated the opportunity to expose numerous people within CCI to Puppy Power 4-H and share what we do. We look forward to seeing you all at the seminar!
From The Bark-Spring 2008 Edition:
Puppy Power has been up to a lot lately. We have been preparing for our public presentations, a requirement to go to fair. The objective of a public presentation is to have the 4-Her become more comfortable presenting and talking in front of people. We speak for two judges and they decide what ribbon to give you. You can get a blue, red or white ribbon and the highest score gets a green ribbon and makes you eligible to go on to “county” to compete with the other high-scoring 4-Hers. The primaries, or the “itsy bitsy kids,” only have to give a presentation to their 4-H group for practice. Those are always fun to watch, the kids are really adorable. Also, we all are looking forward to annual 4-H Dog Caper held each April at the fair grounds. It’s a two night, three day sleepover (all 300 4-Hers and their dogs sleep in the giant cow barn) where we do a wide variety of things ranging from dog agility to tie dye. It always is really fun and a great experience to meet other 4-Hers and the different clubs. The Caper is coming up on the 18th, 19th and 20th of April. |
